Laval Resident Wins $1,282,629 at Casino de Montréal Slot Machine

A resident of Laval's visit to the Casino de Montréal last weekend proved to be an extraordinarily rewarding one. An occasional patron of the gaming house, the lucky player pocketed a jackpot worth $1,282,629.10 at a Grand Prix slot machine. In order to win the progressive jackpot offered by this type of machine, players must wager two $5 tokens at a time and obtain three Grand Prix symbols along the pay line.

The amazing stroke of luck occurred at around 12:45 P.M. on Saturday, only a few minutes after the Laval businessman in his sixties began playing at the machine. "It took me a few moments to actually realize what had happened," he recalls. "Everyone around me began shrieking, singing and congratulating me, while Casino employees ran off to look for my wife who was playing somewhere else."

Having bagged the second largest prize ever paid out at the Casino de Montréal, the lucky winner is sharing his newfound fortune with his loved ones. The largest prize ever won at the Montréal gaming house - $3,144,283 - went to two patrons in September 2003.

After the win this past Saturday, the Grand Prix slot machine jackpot returned to its minimum level of $500,000 and will continue to grow until it is won again.
